A taste of Europe: European Organic EVO Oil and wine conquering Canada

Ecceamerica: 120 days of authentic flavours and sustainability in 10 Ontario shops

Promoting the authenticity and quality of European agrifood products: this is the objective of Ecceamerica, a three-year project co-financed by the European Union through EU Reg. 1144/2014 and promoted by Unaprol – Consorzio Olivicolo Italiano and CAP, Confederação dos Agricultores de Portugal. At the heart of the initiative are two protagonists of Mediterranean excellence: Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Organic Certified Wines, symbols of sustainable production that respects traditions.

The project aims to raise awareness among North American consumers, and beyond, of the importance of conscious food choices, based on products that not only enrich the taste of recipes, but also represent a model of environmental sustainability and well-being. Thanks to Ecceamerica, European excellence is presented to the public with a clear message: choosing organic means choosing quality, ethics and innovation.

European organic products are distinguished by a rigorous certification system that ensures that high standards are met throughout the production chain. Organic extra virgin olive oils are not just a condiment, just as organic wines are not just an accompaniment, but true ambassadors of an agriculture that preserves soil health and biodiversity while promoting responsible and sustainable practices.

The main principles of organic certification include:

  • Environmental sustainability: cultivation methods that reduce ecological impact, protect biodiversity and promote responsible use of natural resources.
  • Health and safety: products free of chemical residues, rich in essential nutrients and respectful of consumer health.
  • Ethical innovation: adoption of modern technologies and practices that enhance traditions without compromising authenticity.

Choosing organic products therefore means supporting a development model that focuses on quality, transparency and well-being.

A corner of flavour and sustainability: the initiative in Canadian points of sale
From 23 January 2025, ten selected points of sale between Toronto, Vaughan and Oakville will be transformed into showcases of European excellence thanks to a total of 120 promotional days dedicated to European Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Organic Wines. In these exhibition corners, specialised staff will accompany visitors on a sensory journey to discover the distinctive characteristics of the organic products protagonists of the Ecceamerica Programme.

Each exhibition area will offer:

  • Thematic insights: information on organic production methods, the importance of sustainability and the positive impact of these choices on daily nutrition.
  • Support for conscious buying: practical tips for identifying certified products on the shelves and incorporating them into one’s dietary lifestyle.
